My puppy got his at 16 weeks. Florida law won’t allow to give rabies earlier then 16 weeks.

my Vet gives them with their 3rd set of shots that would be 12 weeks Vets are different.
the reason we give early is the area we live in we share our world with a lot of wildlife a dog doesn’t have to be bitten to catch rabies can get it from a rabid animals ****.

Rabies vaccines should be given between 4 and 6 months. Why try to vaccinate too early? I’ve never heard a vet recommend that.

I would say you should have the dog take the shots 3 or 4 months.

12-16 weeks is what most Vets will recommend. For dogs that travel on a plane, it is required at 12 weeks. I personally would not recommend waiting, and do not know of any reason to wait.

Rabies is not prevalent in many areas, but I have been reading that it is making a comeback, article I read made note they are seeing it weekly in Texas.

Bottom line – Rabies is a death sentence in a dog that is not protected.

    Best of Luck!
